Question by lovely08: Hot water heater problems?!?
My fiance and I just moved into an apartment where we have access to our hot water heater, breaks etc. We have no hot water so we checked the hot water heater and the pilot light was off but it was leaking water. Is it safe to relight the pilot light and if so how do we go about doing that or did our landlord have it shut off because it was leaking water or was that just because no one has lived here for a long time?
I also should add that our neighbor is on the same water heater and she gets hot water.

DO NOT LIGHT THE WATER HEATER!!!!!!!! If your tank is leaking then there is no use in lighting the pilot. Call the landlord and tell them that your water heater is leaking water and it is not safe to light. If you were to light the tank and the burner turns on, then the water inside the tank will got hot and therefore expand and break flooding your apt. and anyone beneath you. You need a new water heater.
